Allow us to introduce Nils Hoffmann — a 20-year-old German cyclist and adventurer who has already completed an extraordinary bicycle journey from Stuttgart to Seoul, covering more than 13,000 kilometres across several continents.
Now, in his latest challenge, Nils is turning his attention to Australia, hugging the coastline as he rides south from Brisbane to Melbourne.
Starting from Brisbane on the 22nd of February, Nils will be riding the Trike Bike CHILL on this epic 2,500 km coastal expedition. This journey will test endurance, adaptability, and the real-world touring capability of the Trike Bike CHILL across changing terrain, coastal winds, heat, rain, and long open stretches of road.

Hello dear followers,
After two quiet days off the bike, it’s finally time to continue the journey south. I spent the weekend in Newcastle with friends, which was a fantastic opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy some great company. But now, the road is calling again.
I set off from Newcastle this morning under beautiful weather, with clear skies and a gentle breeze pushing me along. The conditions were perfect for riding, and I followed the A43 heading south towards Sydney, one of the major milestones of this expedition. The route along the coast continues to impress, with a mix of open roads, rolling terrain, and glimpses of the ocean that remind me just how special this journey is.
After covering around 80 kilometres, I reached the Central Coast region, now sitting approximately 80 km north of Sydney. However, today also brought one of those unpredictable moments that make long-distance travel so memorable — I ran out of battery in the middle of nowhere.
With limited options, I approached a nearby home and asked if I could recharge. What happened next truly reflects the spirit of Australia. The family not only allowed me to charge my trike, but they also welcomed me in, offered a place to stay, and shared a wonderful dinner together.
The evening turned into something really special. I spent time with their children, teaching them some French, playing soccer, cards, and enjoying simple but meaningful moments together. It’s experiences like this that make the journey far more than just kilometres on a map.
I continue to be amazed by how warm, generous, and welcoming people are here in Australia. Sometimes it’s hard to believe just how kind complete strangers can be. I am incredibly grateful for the support and hospitality I receive along the way — it truly keeps this expedition moving forward.
Tomorrow, the journey continues as I push closer towards Sydney.
