Hello dear readers and followers, Today’s ride covered approximately 90 kilometres under a relentless Australian sun. The morning began with strong headwinds and intense heat, making the first stretch particularly demanding. It was one of those days where every kilometre had to be earned.

I started the day at my generous host’s home, where I had been invited to camp in his backyard overnight. Not only did he offer a safe place to rest, but he also prepared breakfast in the morning — a kindness that truly fuels long-distance journeys like this. Before setting off, we took a short drive into Yamba, and he showed me around the town. It was great to see a bit of local life before getting back into expedition mode.

Around 10am I began cycling, rejoining the M1 corridor for much of today’s route. While it’s not the most scenic stretch, it provides consistent progress south. The headwind in the morning made the trike work hard, and combined with the direct sun, it turned into a physically and mentally tough session.

By mid- afternoon I reached Corindi Beach — today’s destination. Thankfully, I was able to recharge both batteries at a local supermarket, which is always a huge relief on longer stages. The reliability of being able to top up power during the day makes this kind of coastal expedition possible.

After setting up camp plans for the evening, I rewarded myself with a refreshing surf. There’s something incredibly grounding about jumping into the ocean after hours on the road — saltwater therapy at its best.

Tonight I’ll pitch my tent on a quiet grass field near the beach and rest up for the next stage south.
