How far can you expect from a set of tyres?
We’ve just changed a front tyre for a Trike Bike rider with over 5,400 km on their Sobowo Fat Trike. We’ve only just replaced the front tyre. The rear Kenda tyres still look strong, with an estimated 3,000–4,000 km left in them. That’s 8,000–9,000 km of real-world life from a set—pretty impressive.
Why the front wears sooner
On a standard tricycle (one wheel up front, two at the rear) the front tyre does all the steering and much of the braking, which naturally leads to faster wear. The rears share the drive load and will typically last longer.

Tips to maximise tyre life

Pressure matters: the best compromise between rolling resistance and shock absorption is definitely 16 to 18 psi. This is our recommendation for both road riding and off-road riding.

Ride smooth: avoid hard curb hits, tight turns and extra fast acceleration

Rotate if suitable: you can always rotate your tyres so if the front is starting to wear you can swap it to the back. Most people however don’t worry and just keep riding.

Quick checks: remove embedded stones/glass and inspect the tyre/tread every few rides.
