Today turned out to be another beautiful and rewarding day on the road as I continued my journey south along the Australian coastline. In total I covered around 90 kilometres, starting the morning from Valla Beach at around 10 o’clock. The day began with warm sunshine and calm conditions, which made for a very pleasant ride.

One of the highlights today was riding off the main roads for a while, following some quieter dirt tracks and back roads through the countryside. These sections are always special because they allow me to experience the scenery much more closely. The landscape here is stunning — green farmland, forest sections and open stretches where you really feel the freedom of travelling by trike. Another big advantage of these off-grid routes is the lack of traffic, which makes the ride peaceful and relaxed.

After some time on these dirt tracks I arrived in the town of Kempsey, which sits beautifully along the Macleay River. Kempsey is a lovely small town with a relaxed atmosphere, and it provided a perfect opportunity for a short break. By this point both of my batteries were nearly flat after the off-road riding, so I stopped for a quick recharge. While waiting for the batteries to gain some extra power, I cooled down by jumping into the river for a refreshing swim — a great way to relax after the morning’s ride.

With the batteries topped up and energy restored, I continued the journey toward the coast again. The afternoon ride was very enjoyable and eventually brought me to Crescent Head, which is a famous surfing destination known for its beautiful beaches and relaxed coastal vibe. The ride into town had some great ocean views and it felt like the perfect place to finish the day.

Luckily, I managed to find a public power outlet, which means both batteries are now charging and ready for tomorrow’s ride. That’s always a great feeling at the end of the day — knowing the trike and I are both ready to continue the adventure.

Overall, today was another fantastic day on the expedition, combining quiet country roads, friendly small towns, a refreshing river swim in Kempsey, and a beautiful finish at the coast here in Crescent Head.
